A world without the beauty and creativity of art and books would be a lackluster, dull, somber, and boring place to live. We need the expertise and scholarly wisdom of people to guide us into this creative, fascinating world that moves, inspires, and connects us.

Mallory and John O’Connor

Mallory O’Connor is an educator, art historian, gallery curator, writer and President of the arts consulting firm oconnorartLLC, which she co-owns with her husband John, a celebrated artist and graphic designer. Combining their unique skills and superb talents oconnorartLLC specializes in the visual and performing arts.

“I am defined by my natural curiosity and perpetual restlessness,” says Mallory. “I view myself as a social archaeologist. So many different topics engage my attention and I feel inherently compelled to ask questions eternally searching for the story behind the story. Even as a child my favorite question was always why. That’s the cornerstone of my life.”

Prior to opening oconnorartLLC, Mallory served as an art history professor for 30 years at the University of Florida and Santa Fe College, as well as an art gallery curator for 10 years.

“We have always thought of what we do as a synergistic interactive collaboration and have been extremely focused on our work as artists,” explains Mallory. “Each of us has our individual distinct interests and direction, but more importantly, we support one other. Art and culture are what keep us sane, so we can move forward with a definitive purpose and goal.”

Book Title - American River: Tributaries - Fiction - HistoricalMallory recently completed her the first book of a trilogy entitled American River, which encompasses the decade of the turbulent 1960s through the lives of three immigrant families that settle on the American river in Northern California at the time of the Gold rush. It is also the story of Mallory’s passion for issues such as woman’s liberation, art, music, nature, ethnic diversity and the environment.

“We are two genuine artists who are making a career of gaining a more diverse audience,” says Mallory. “Both of us work tenaciously creating our own art. It’s all a wonderful part of who we are and we remain each other’s biggest supporters.”
